The Diocese of Evansville Chrism Mass, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, has been rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. CDT on Aug. 25 at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville.
Because of the need for social-distancing and its impact on seating inside the cathedral, attendance is by invitation only. All are encouraged to participate via the live stream that will be available on the St. Benedict Cathedral Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/saintbenedictcathedral/.
The Chrism Mass is traditionally celebrated on the Tuesday of Holy Week.
Now, roughly four months after the original date of the Chrism Mass, the diocese finds itself with circumstances regarding Mass attendance that are only marginally better than they were during Holy Week – but at the same time, in need of blessing and consecrating holy oils.
