Reitz Memorial cruises to Hunger Bowl win over Mater Dei

The Reitz Memorial Tigers cruised to a win in a clash of unbeaten teams in the Sept. 13 Hunger Bowl between Reitz Memorial and Mater Dei high schools at the Reitz Bowl in Evansville. 

Reitz Memorial (4-0) scored in every quarter in their 41-13 win over Mater Dei (3-1). The Tigers led 14-3 after the first quarter and 21-6 at halftime. Reitz Memorial quarterback Matthew Fisher accounted for five touchdowns in the win. He threw four 289 yards and four touchdowns. He added a touchdown on the ground. He rushed for 51 yards on four carries. Reitz Memorial wide receiver Luke Ellspermann caught two of Fisher’s four touchdown passes. He hauled in six passes for 147 yards. 

Reitz Memorial was scheduled to play at Evansville Harrison Sept. 20. They will host Evansville Bosse Sept. 27. Mater Dei was scheduled to play at Jasper Sept. 20. They will play at Evansville North Sept. 27.
