Three local high school students were recently recognized as Southern Indiana Chapter of the National Football Foundation scholar athletes.
Evansville Reitz Memorial High School seniors Alex Broshears and Jacob Lively and Evansville Mater Dei senior Ethan Stofleth were recognized at the organization’s 2025 awards banquet April 27. They were three of 15 recipients of the award.
The scholar athletes were selected based on their excellence on the football field, in the classroom and for their leadership and involvement in the community.
On the field, Broshears led the Reitz Memorial defense with 177 total tackles, including 111 solo tackles. He also logged one interception and one fumble recovery on the season. Lively finished fourth among all Tiger defenders with 69 total tackles. He led the Tiger defense with two interceptions and one fumble recovery. He led the Tigers in fumble recovery and interception yards.
Stofleth finished third among all Wildcats with 142 yards rushing and two rushing touchdowns. He also recorded 32 total tackles on defense.
