Sisters of Providence celebrate Jubilees

Four Sisters of Providence of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, with ties to the Diocese of Evansville, are celebrating Jubilees this year.

Sister Eileen Rose Bonner is celebrating 75 years with the Congregation this year. Sister Eileen Rose entered the Congregation on Jan. 8, 1950, from Sacred Heart Parish in Whiting. She professed first vows on Aug. 15, 1952, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1957.

During her time in the Diocese of Evansville, Sister Eileen Rose ministered as a teacher at Holy Family in Jasper from 1956-1957, and as a teacher at St. Francis Xavier in Vincennes from 1957-1963. Sister Eileen has ministered at other locations in Indiana as well as in Illinois and Kentucky. Currently, she ministers in prayer at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Sister Margaret Quinlan, formerly Sister Ann Jude, is celebrating 70 years with the Congregation this year. Sister Margaret entered the Congregation from Holy Spirit Parish in Evansville on July 22, 1955. She professed first vows on Jan. 23, 1958, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1963.

During her time in the Diocese of Evansville, Sister Margaret ministered as a teacher at Evansville Reitz Memorial High School from 1981-1994. She has ministered at other locations in Indiana as well as in Texas and Illinois. Sister Margaret’s current ministry is prayer at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Born in Evansville, Sister Betty Paul, formerly Sister Paulette, is celebrating 60 years with the Congregation this year. Sister Betty entered the Congregation on Sept. 12, 1965, from Corpus Christi Parish in Evansville. She professed first vows on Aug. 15, 1968, and final vows on April 10, 1976.

Sister Betty has ministered in Indiana as well as Oklahoma, Connecticut, Massachusetts and North Carolina. Currently, she ministers as the Northern Regional Coordinator for the Office of Faith Formation for the Diocese of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Sister Lisa Stallings was also born in Evansville and is celebrating 50 years with the Congregation this year. She entered the Congregation from Christ the King Parish in Evansville on Aug. 23, 1975. She professed first vows on Aug. 15, 1978, and final vows on Aug. 25, 1984.

Sister Lisa has ministered in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. Currently, she ministers as the Coordinator of Liturgy for the Sisters of Providence of St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
