In July, a Habitat for Humanity of Evansville home sponsored by Catholics for Habitat and Ascension St. Vincent was dedicated for April and her two children. This is the 29th Habitat home built by Catholics for Habitat, and the third home built in partnership with Ascension St. Vincent.
New Habitat homeowner April has two kids, and she works evenings cleaning at the downtown Old National Bank. She completed her high school education at the Goodwill Excel Center and is continuing her education at Ivy Tech Community College.
April’s home, located on N. 3rd Avenue, is the 649th Habitat home. Habitat officials described April’s home dedication as “something truly special.” They said it was “filled with so much joy, love and support from family, friends, coworkers, Habitat Core Crew and everyone who has walked alongside her on this journey.”
Those who worked with April said that she showed a lot of perseverance as she completed the Habitat program and purchased her home.
Habitat officials said, “April shows a quiet resilience and determination that has carried her every step of the way. It has been an honor to partner with her, and we are so proud to celebrate this milestone as she begins a new chapter as a homeowner.”
Officials continued, “Thank you to Catholics for Habitat and Ascension St. Vincent for sponsoring this home and making this dream possible.”
According to Habitat, Catholics for Habitat have put their faith into action for more than 30 years by raising funds needed to build a home, at least one a year, for a family working toward a brighter future.
