In January, I shared that since June 2022 when Roe v. Wade was overturned, surprisingly the number of abortions in America has increased rather than decreased. This is in part due to RU-486, the combination of medications known as “the abortion pill.” A pregnant mom may not need to physically go to be seen, get an ultrasound and be counseled about abortion. If an abortion facility is not nearby, or a woman lives in a state that has outlawed elective abortion, she is able to be “seen” by a virtual clinic in an abortion-friendly state and receive RU-486 by mail.
As RU-486 is back in the news, I thought it would be helpful to provide some background. Just two weeks ago, the United States Supreme Court released an opinion rejecting a lawsuit by various pro-life health care associations to restore some common sense protections. When RU-486 was originally approved by the FDA in 2000, there were certain limitations about its use for the protection of women. Some of these restrictions included verifying how far along a pregnancy was as well as ensuring it was a normal and not ectopic pregnancy. Over the years, these safety guidelines have been relaxed, and pro-life organizations asked to at least restore these protections. How can someone in a different state verify how far along a pregnancy is and whether the baby is in the uterus or an ectopic location?
Friends, common sense does not always make its way into some medical guidelines or legal decisions.
Since RU-486 appears that it will be around for a while, I want you to know about the Abortion Pill Reversal Hotline. This is a life-saving option for babies. With medication abortion more commonly used and easier to obtain, it is important for you to know that there is an excellent protocol available to attempt to reverse the effects of RU-486.
Progesterone (“pro-gestation” or “pro-pregnancy”) is the second of two hormones produced during a woman’s menstrual cycle. It is needed to maintain the lining of the woman’s uterus that builds up during a normal menstrual cycle. If a woman is not pregnant, that tissue is not needed and sheds off. This shedding of blood is recognized as the menstrual period.
If the woman has conceived, however, this tissue is vital to provide nutrition for the baby in the first months of pregnancy until the placenta (afterbirth) takes over this responsibility. The first medication in RU-486 blocks the effect of progesterone, so it essentially cuts off the nutrition for the baby so he or she dies. The second medication causes the uterus to begin to contract so both the normal uterine lining and very young baby are shed with what is advertised as a normal menstrual period. Of course, this is NOT a normal menstrual period, it is an elective abortion.
I know an unplanned pregnancy is an extremely emotional situation. If a woman decides to take RU-486, she may experience regret once taking the first medication. That’s where the Abortion Pill Reversal Hotline comes in. If a large dose of progesterone is taken as a supplement as soon as possible after the first medication in RU-486 is taken, the hope is to prevent the negative effect on the growing baby. When this protocol is properly administered, about 64 percent of pregnancies can be saved.
Please put this phone number in your contacts so that you can share it with a woman in need. Seriously, stop reading and put this number in your phone right now for the Abortion Pill Reversal Hotline: 877-558-0333.
I invite you to do your own research on this issue at www.abortionpillreversal.com.
Please note that if you research to learn more about RU-486, you will see that some professional organizations do not support this process of attempted abortion pill reversal. Admittedly, there are not the gold standard double-blind placebo-controlled trials to provide evidence of these positive results. Who would sign up to be part of a study like this? Observational studies showing successful reversal have been done and reported, but groups such as Planned Parenthood continue to dismiss these findings. You don’t need much time to figure out why.
Some thought that with the reversal of Roe v. Wade, the abortion battle was over. Unfortunately, this is not so. The landscape has changed, and the Abortion Pill Reversal Hotline is a wonderful tool to help save the lives of babies and the regrets of their mothers.
