About 180 people attended Passport to Seoul July 31. The event was a fundraising dinner, dance and auction held to support the Diocese of Evansville’s pilgrimage to World Youth Day in Seoul, South Korea, in the summer of 2027.
“The evening was an opportunity to raise funds while also introducing more people to the World Youth Day pilgrimage and the impact it will have on the more than 60 young people from across the diocese, who will be making the journey,” Diocese of Evansville Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry Sherie Cooley said.
The fundraiser featured dinner, silent auction, pilgrim testimonies and dancing. They heard so many positive comments throughout the evening, Cooley said, including about the atmosphere, food and overall experience.
“While we are still finalizing the total amount raised, we are incredibly grateful for everyone’s generosity and support,” Cooley said. “Just as importantly, the event gave our pilgrims the chance to share their story and helped build excitement and awareness as they continue preparing for this life-changing pilgrimage.”
