On Jan. 24, Amy Hassler, a first-grade teacher at Resurrection School in Evansville, was named 2025’s first St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Outstanding Educator by the Diocese of Evansville Catholic Schools Office. Hassler was surprised as the January recipient by Diocesan Superintendent Michelle Priar, Associate Superintendent Kari Ford and School Support Administrator Lynde Anquillare, who presented her with a certificate and a small gift.

Hassler is the 13th educator to receive the honor since its inception in 2023. She is in her 30th year of teaching for the diocese.

A nominator said, like St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Hassler “tirelessly works to nurture the mind and spirit of every student she encounters, ensuring they feel valued, inspired and prepared to succeed.”

The nominator continued, “Amy spends countless hours preparing exceptional lessons for her first-grade students, ensuring that each child experiences the joy of learning while being nurtured in a faith-filled environment. Her creativity and commitment to tailoring her teaching to the needs of her students reflect St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s belief in holistic education. Whether she’s designing engaging activities to ignite curiosity or patiently guiding her students through challenging concepts, Amy’s work demonstrates her unwavering devotion to academic excellence and spiritual growth.”
