Christian Mocek, President of Reitz Memorial High School since July 2021, has announced he is stepping down as he has accepted a new position as the Head of School for Lial Catholic School in Whitehouse, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo, Ohio. Mocek will remain as President of Reitz Memorial until June 30, 2024.

Mocek shared, “While I am excited to move back to my hometown and be closer to my parents, brothers, nieces, nephews and in-laws, my family and I will be sad to leave Evansville. Serving as President of Memorial has been an honor that I will always cherish.”

Diocese of Evansville Superintendent of Schools Michelle Priar said, “We certainly thank Christian for his dedicated service to Reitz Memorial Catholic High School as well as his significant contributions in strategic planning and advancement. We wish him the very best in his new endeavor and extend our prayers to his family.”

Mocek said, “Memorial High School will always be a special place for myself, Gillian and our children. I’ll always be grateful for your warm welcome, generous acceptance of my family, and your willingness to partner with us to advance the mission of Memorial.”

Mocek noted, “In the last three years, we have accomplished much together – our enrollment has grown by 50+ students, we launched the “Igniting the Tradition” Strategic Plan, we have made meaningful community partnerships, and will be undertaking significant facility improvements this summer. We could not have accomplished any of that without the hard work of our excellent team and the support of our alumni and benefactors.”

The search for a new president and the establishment of a plan for a smooth transition has begun.

Mocek said, “The next President of Memorial High School will inherit a wonderful tradition and a school on the rise. I know they will be able to lead this wonderful school community to new heights.”
