RCIA candidates from across the Diocese of Evansville gathered Jan. 27 for a retreat at the Catholic Center in Evansville. About 175 people attended the retreat, which is for catechumens and candidates who will be entering the Church at the Easter Vigil on March 30. Sponsors and RCIA Team members also attended. The retreat included tracks for English and Spanish speakers. Bishop Joseph M. Siegel opened the retreat, and he led morning prayer. Speakers for the day also included Father Tony Ernst, pastor of St. Francis of Xavier Parish in Vincennes and St. Philip Neri Parish in Bicknell; Father Brian Emmick, pastor of Precious Blood Parish in Jasper; Father Martin Estrada, parochial vicar of Holy Rosary Parish in Evansville; Bertha Melendres, director of the diocesan Office of Hispanic Ministry; Abby Lasher and Eneida Ortiz.
