Special to The Message
The 2025 Holy Cross Distinguished Alumni Award, given by the Holy Cross Alumni and Friends, was recently awarded to Mo Dix. The award was presented by Sue Harrell, president of HCAAF at the vigil Mass Sept. 13 during the parish’s annual Alumni celebration weekend.
The award has been given since 1997 and is close to the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Sept. 14. The award is given to Holy Cross School graduates who have been recognized by their parishioners as living exemplary Catholic lives. Offering this award is to provide inspiration to others and to give thanks to God for the Catholic Faith as represented by the life of the individual.
Mo is a life-long member of Holy Cross Parish. She attended Holy Cross School for grades 1-8, graduated from Fort Branch High School in 1966, and she earned a degree in cosmetology. She is a positive influence by witnessing the Catholic faith through religious and educational training gained at Holy Cross.
She is a very familiar face since being active as a sacristan, communion minister, lector, taking Holy Communion to the homebound and helping clean the church. She also volunteers in the school library, the yearly turtle making project and preparation for the chicken dinners. She is also active in the local Psi Iota sorority, which supports many community efforts.
“Mo is an excellent role model of stewardship in not only our Faith Church Community but also in our larger community. She shares her time, talent and treasure fully,” the nomination form said.
