Anualmente la Oficina del Ministerio Hispano, convoca a todos los feligreses de la Diócesis para participar en un retiro de un día. Al cual llamamos Encuentro de Fe, con los años este evento ha venido creciendo y evolucionado. El primer encuentro se realizó en la parroquia del Santo Rosario en Evansville en el 2018 y se ha rotado en las diferentes parroquias para que toda la Diócesis tenga la oportunidad de ser la sede del encuentro.
Este año más de cuatrocientos Hispanos católicos nos reunimos en la parroquia de San José en Jasper. Entre nosotros ellos había 72 jóvenes y 67 niños. Todos tuvimos la bella oportunidad de reunirnos alrededor de la mesa en la celebración eucarística con nuestro señor Obispo, José M. Siegel, ocho sacerdotes y dos diáconos. Por la tarde tuvimos la procesión con el Santísimo y también Hora Santa. No cabe duda de que nuestro Señor está haciendo maravillas en su pueblo.
Nuestro lema fue “Pueblo Eucarístico”, y como invitado especial tuvimos al Padre José Guadalupe Tapia de Jalisco, México. Quien nos habló de la importancia de prepararnos para recibir la Eucaristía, y como Celebramos el gran misterio de nuestra fe en la Celebración eucarística. Al final del día, a los jóvenes y a los adultos nos compartió sobre la importancia de la Eucaristía, y como es a través de la Eucaristía que Dios santifica a su pueblo. En el Encuentro se ofrece un taller para jóvenes y otro para los niños. Saul Llacsa estuvo como conferencista de los jóvenes. Todos hablando, meditando y compartiendo sobre los mismos temas que los adultos.
Este evento no podría ser lo que fue, sin la colaboración de todos los sacerdotes del ministerio Hispano, y los más de 60 voluntarios que conformaron el comité. Los cuales trabajaron arduamente para que todo fuera un éxito. Verdaderamente fue tan bello poder ser testigo de cómo el Espíritu Santo guía y permanece con los que lo buscan y acogen. Pues es tan grande el amor de Dios por los suyos, que todos los presentes lo podíamos palpar y sentir. ¡Porque Cristo Vive en nosotros!

Encuentro de Fe 2023: ‘Eucharistic People’
Annually, the Office of Hispanic Ministry invites all parishioners in the diocese to participate in a one-day retreat, which we call Encuentro de Fe. Over the years, this event has been growing and evolving. The first meeting was held in Evansville’s Holy Rosary Parish in 2018 and has been rotated in the different parishes, so that the entire diocese has the opportunity to host the retreat.
This year, more than 400 Hispanic Catholics gathered at St. Joseph Parish in Jasper. Among them were 72 teens and 67 children. We all had the beautiful opportunity to gather around the table in the Eucharistic celebration with Bishop Joseph M. Siegel, eight priests and two deacons. In the afternoon, we had a procession with the Blessed Sacrament and a Holy Hour. There is no doubt that our Lord is working wonders in His people.
Our theme was "Eucharistic People;" and as a special guest, we had Father José Guadalupe Tapia from Jalisco, Mexico. Father Lupe spoke to us about the importance of preparing ourselves to receive the Eucharist, and how we celebrate the great mystery of our faith in the Eucharistic Celebration. At the end of the day, he shared with the youth and the adults the importance of the Eucharist, and how it is through the Eucharist that God sanctifies his people. The En Cuentro offers a workshop for young people, and another for children. Saúl Llacsa was the speaker for the youth. Everyone talked, meditated and shared the same topics as adults.
This event could not be what it was without the collaboration of all the diocesan priests, the Office of Hispanic ministry, and the more-than 60 volunteers who made up the committee. They worked hard to make everything a success. It was truly so beautiful to be able to witness how the Holy Spirit guides and abides with those who seek and welcome Him. For so great is God's love for his own that all of us present could see and feel it. Because Christ lives in us!
