Jackson retires from Holy Rosary Parish

The Message photos by Tim Lilley

Jill Jackson, who served Evansville’s Holy Rosary Parish for 26 years as Director of Music, retired effective June 30. She led the parish choir for the last time during the 9 a.m. Mass on Aug. 14. The first photo shows Jackson leading the choir for the last time as they sing “Canticle of the Sun,” the closing song for the 9 a.m. Mass. Just before the final blessing, Parish Manager Joe Holtz, who sings in the choir, paid tribute to Jackson for her tireless service. Noting that she is a baseball fan, in particular a passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan, Holtz presented Jackson with her own custom bobble-head doll, shown in a closeup. The other photo, shows Jackson, left, holding the bobble-head, with Holtz, who is holding a framed print of Holy Rosary Church Jackson also received. She thanked the parish community for its support over the years, calling her work a true labor of love.
