To the Editor,
Many Hoosiers advancing creation care, as requested by Pope Francis and the USCCB, were delighted by July’s announcement in Rome, during the Pope’s press conference about the upcoming Season of Creation, that John Mundell of The Archdiocese of Indianapolis’ Creation Care has been named global director of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform.
Cardinal Michael Czerny, prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, said, “Enough is enough. All new exploration and production of coal, oil, and gas must immediately end; and existing production of fossil fuels must be urgently phased out. This must be a just transition for impacted workers into environmentally sound alternatives. I am happy to announce that the Dicastery…is strengthening the Laudato Si’ Action Platform by naming John Mundell as its Director…. During this Season of Creation, may all Christians come together to celebrate creation’s sweet song and respond to creation’s bitter cry.”
We celebrate John’s ascendance to his crucial role and are heartened to know LSAP is in such capable hands.
