Mausoleum dedication at St. John the Baptist

The new portion of the mausoleum at St. John the Baptist Parish in Newburgh was dedicated Oct. 25. In 2020, the parish started looking at expanding the original mausoleum, which was completed in 2006. The cemetery board was looking to the future, with the need for more crypts and niches for burial. With the rising cost of traditional burials, more individuals are looking at interment in mausoleums as a cost-saving option, Angie Knust, parish director of accounting, said. In April 2024, the design was completed. Construction began in September 2024 and was completed in August 2025 behind the original mausoleum.
