Marian Educational Outreach Executive Director Annie-Rose Keith has notified The Message that the 2020 MEO Gala, which had been scheduled for Aug. 15, has been cancelled.
She said, “In conversation with our partners at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, social-distancing restrictions are unlikely to be lifted in the near future. In order to recoup funds for our program mission, we had to make the unfortunate decision to cancel our largest fundraiser of the year. The health and safety of our guests comes first. Those that have purchased tickets or sponsorships will be contacted.”
Keith said plans are in place for a Gala next year, which is tentatively scheduled for May 1, 2021, at St. Vincent Manor in Evansville.
Keith also said, “Even though we cannot gather this year, I would still love to purchase some much needed reading-intervention kits for the students at Good Shepherd, St. Benedict, and Annunciation at Holy Spirit schools. Our goal was to raise $10,000 during the Gala as our annual ‘Fund An Item’ to purchase reading-intervention kits and teacher resources.”
