Over the past several weeks, parishes around the Diocese took part in voluntary special collections for humanitarian relief and pastoral support to the people of Gaza. As of this publication, parishioners have contributed more than $75,000 to the people of Gaza to support the efforts of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA). Bishop Joseph Siegel expressed his admiration for the outstanding generosity shown by clergy and lay faithful to their suffering brothers and sisters.
