Priests begin new assignments

Several priests are beginning new assignments this month in the Diocese of Evansville. They include:

Rev. Claude “Dusty” Burns is the new pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish in Newburgh. He replaces Rev. Tom Kessler, who retired. The appointment and retirement were effective June 24. Father Dusty had been pastor of St. Philip Parish in Posey County and St. Matthew Parish in Mount Vernon.

Rev. Brian Emmick is the new pastor of Precious Blood Parish in Jasper, effective June 24. He also will serve as the priest-delegate to Holy Trinity Catholic School. He had been pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Princeton and St. Bernard Parish in Snake Run.

Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand is the new pastor of St. Philip Parish in Posey County and St. Matthew Parish in Mount Vernon, effective June 24. He had been pastor of St. Mary Parish in Huntingburg.

Rev. Gary Kaiser is the new pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Princeton and St. Bernard Parish in Snake Run, effective June 24. He had been pastor of Precious Blood Parish in Jasper, and he served as priest-delegate to Holy Trinity Catholic School.

Rev. Simon Natha is the new administrator of St. Peter Parish in Linton and Holy Name Parish in Bloomfield, effective June 24. He had been parochial vicar of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Vincennes and St. Philip Neri Parish in Bicknell. Father Simon is a missionary priest serving in the diocese. He is a member of the Heralds of Good News.

Rev. Biju Thomas is the new administrator of St. Mary Parish in Huntingburg, effective June 24. He had been administrator of St. Peter Parish in Linton and Holy Name Parish in Bloomfield. Father Biju is a missionary priest serving in the diocese. He is a priest of the Archdiocese of Imphal, India.

Rev. Jose Thomas is the new parochial vicar of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Vincennes and St. Philip Neri Parish in Bicknell, effective June 24. He had been parochial vicar of St. Philip Parish in Posey County and St. Matthew Parish in Mount Vernon. Father Jose is a missionary priest serving in the diocese. He is a priest of the Archdiocese of Imphal, India. No photo of Father Jose is available.

Rev. Ambrose Wanyonyi is preparing to join the Deaconess Hospital Clinical Pastoral Education Residency Program. This appointment is effective Aug. 31. Father Ambrose’s assignment as parochial vicar of St. John the Baptist Parish in Newburgh concluded June 24. He resides at Sts. Mary and John Parish in Evansville (move effective June 24).
