Reitz Memorial speech team wins district title again

Reitz Memorial High School’s speech team recently captured its second straight Hoosier Heartland District Championship in Indianapolis. Reitz Memorial tied a school record by qualifying four students for the NSDA National Speech and Debate Tournament, which is set for June 12-16 in Phoenix, Arizona. Four other students are next-in alternates to the nationals.

The national qualifiers include Elias Beardmore, International Extemporaneous (three-time national qualifier); Katelyn Fehrenbacher, US Extemporaneous (two-time national qualifier); Emma Payne, Humorous Interpretation; and Greta Diehl and Charlotte Fredrich, Duo Interpretation.

Alternates to the nationals include Chris Sermersheim, International Extemporaneous; Sydney Winters, Humorous Interpretation; Nathan Raben, US Extemporaneous; and Tyler Wilson, Humorous Interpretation.
