Sister Mathauer celebrates Silver Jubilee

Benedictine Sister Rebecca “Becky” Ann Mathauer of the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand, Indiana, recently celebrated her Silver Jubilee.

Sister Mathauer celebrated the 25th anniversary of her monastic profession at a Jubilee Mass of Thanksgiving May 23 at the monastery church in Ferdinand. A reception followed the Mass of Thanksgiving. 

A native of Indianapolis, Sister Becky holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and theology, a bachelor’s degree in elementary and middle school education, national certification in youth and young adult ministry, master level catechesis certification from the Archdiocese of Louisville, a master’s degree in literacy education and a Master of Arts in theology from St. Meinrad. 

Sister Becky has served in youth ministry, as a director of religious education, as a teaching assistant and teacher and as St. Andrew Academy religious program coordinator. She has also worked in vocation and confirmation retreats. Sister Becky currently serves as a Language Arts, religion and resource teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Jasper. She also serves as an oblate liaison at the monastery in Ferdinand.
