Summary of the May 8 meeting of the Diocesan Pastoral Council

Special to The Message

The Diocese of Evansville’s Diocesan Pastoral Council met on May 8 at the Catholic Center in Evansville. The DPC is a consultative body to Bishop Joseph M. Siegel.

Following Mass, Bishop Siegel welcomed members and led the Council in prayer. Eric Girten, director of the diocese’s Office of Family and Life, then offered a presentation and led a discussion about fostering the culture of life in our parishes, communities and diocese. He mentioned several Office of Family and Life programs and initiatives that work to build up the Gospel of Life, such as Walking with Moms in Need, which seeks to increase parish outreach to pregnant and parenting women facing difficulties.

The meeting concluded with some final comments from the bishop and an opportunity for questions and answers. The date of the next DPC meeting is Aug. 21.
