‘You take care of it’

Not long ago, I wrote about discovering the Novena of Surrender to the Will of God among the prayer cards for sale in the Narthex of St. John the Evangelist Church in Daylight. This year, I decided to begin the novena on Ash Wednesday and pray it daily, non-stop, through Lent. So when I get to Day 9, I begin again the next day with Day 1.

Little did I know how meaningful it would become. There has never been a time in my life when such a simple prayer has meant so much: O Jesus, I surrender myself to you; take care of everything. After the message for each day of the novena, I repeat that prayer 10 times.

Following is the message from Day 4 of the Novena. Read it again and again; let the words flow over and into you:

You see evil growing instead of weakening?
Do not worry,
Close your eyes and say to me with faith:
“Thy will be done, You take care of it.”
I say to you that I will take care of it,
and that I will intervene as does a doctor
and I will accomplish miracles when they are needed.
Do you see that the sick person is getting worse?
Do not be upset,
but close your eyes and say
“You take care of it.”
I say to you that I will take care of it,
and that there is no medicine
more powerful than my loving intervention.
By my love, I promise this to you.

Thy will be done. You take care of it.

You can search “Novena of Surrender to the Will of God” and find it available on a number of websites. However, even if you decide not to find and download it, please remember those two sentences above; and please remember the primary novena prayer:

Thy will be done. You take care of it.

O Jesus, I surrender myself to you; take care of everything.
