Local media photograph and shoot video of Good Shepherd School students on Feb. 5 as the youngsters load some of the 3,300 items they collected the week of Feb. 1 to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry in Evansville. Principal Kristen Girten tells The Message that students also collected more than $3,400 in cash donations to benefit the SVdP food pantry. The school holds an annual competition among grades to collect food and donations for the pantry. This year, Girten and the staff scheduled the competition to coincide with the national observance of Catholic Schools Week. One grade annually wins the competition; and this year, for the first time, the title went to the “Class of 2021” – the eighth grade. Congratulations!
