Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Each year, the glorious feast of Easter proclaims to us, "Do not be afraid. The Lord is risen." Christ has triumphed over the very things that seemed to triumph over Him; and in Him, we can do the same. Today, we are surrounded by many troubling events and discouraging developments in our country and in our world. In a more personal way, we experience the pain of economic struggles, conflict in our homes, serious illness and the loss of loved ones.
Yet, this darkness is pierced by light of the Easter fire for, by His passion, death and resurrection, Christ has overcome the world. He has overcome evil, sin and death. He has made all things new. On that first Easter, those initial followers of Jesus were changed; their discouragement was replaced by hope; their weakness and fear replaced by strength and courage. On this Easter, may we too be transformed, so that we become witnesses to one another and to the world of the new life that the Risen Jesus brings. Let us not be afraid to proclaim this message of hope to our world so much in need of it. Let us not be afraid to challenge the advance of evil. Let us not be afraid to be His disciples and to live our faith actively and fully.
May the Risen Christ bless each of you with His peace and joy. Be assured that I will remember you in my Easter Masses and prayers, and I ask that you remember me in yours. On behalf of Bishop Gettelfinger and the entire Diocesan staff, I wish you a blessed and grace-filled Easter!

PASCUA 2022 - Un mensaje del obispo Joseph M. Siegel
Queridos Hermanas y Hermanos en Cristo,
Cada año, el glorioso festejo de Pascua nos proclama, “No tengas miedo. El Señor está levantado.” Cristo ha triunfado sobre las mismas cosas que parecieron triunfar sobre Él; y en Él, podemos hacer lo mismo. Hoy, estamos rodeados de muchos eventos preocupantes y acontecimientos desalentadores en nuestro país y en nuestro mundo. De forma más personal, experimentamos el dolor de problemas económicos, conflicto en nuestros hogares, enfermedades graves y la pérdida de seres queridos.
Sin embargo, esta oscuridad es penetrada por la luz del fuego de la Pascua ya que, por Su pasión, muerte y resurrección, Cristo ha superado al mundo. Ha superado al mal, el pecado y la muerte. Él ha hecho nuevas todas las cosas. En esa primera Pascua, esos primeros seguidores de Jesús habían cambiado; sus desalientos fueron reemplazados por esperanza; sus debilidades y miedos fueron reemplazados por fuerza y coraje. En esta Pascua, espero que nosotros también seamos transformados, para que nos convirtamos en testigos de unos con otros y del mundo de la nueva vida que trae el Cristo Resucitado. Que no nos dé temor desafiar el avance del mal. Que no nos dé temor ser Sus discípulos y vivir nuestra fe activa y plenamente.
Que el Cristo Resucitado bendiga a cada uno de ustedes con Su paz y alegría. Estén seguros de que yo los recordaré en mis Misas de Pascua y oraciones, y les pido que ustedes me recuerden a mí en las suyas. En nombre del Obispo Gettelfinger y de todo el personal diocesano, ¡les deseo una Pascua bendecida y llena de gracia!
