A message from Bishop Joseph M. Siegel about the Diocese of Evansville Eucharistic Congress

Special to The Message

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In the Diocese of Evansville, we are blessed that, as a capstone of our observance of the National Eucharistic Revival, we will be having a Diocesan Eucharistic Congress, Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at the Old National Events Plaza Auditorium in Evansville.

I strongly encourage you to attend this event.

The Eucharistic Congress is intended to be a uniquely powerful manifestation of the unity of our Diocesan Church, rooted in the Holy Eucharist.  It is hoped that Catholics from around the Diocese – clergy, religious and laity – will gather to celebrate the Lord’s great gift of the Eucharist, the source and summit of our Catholic faith, and to bear witness to our belief in the Real Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.  Along with the celebration of the Mass and opportunity for Eucharistic Adoration, there will be presentations by well-respected speakers, including Msgr. James Shea, Dr. Edward Sri, Dr. Andrew and Sara Swafford and musical offerings by John Michael Talbot and PJ Anderson.

The Eucharistic Congress is intended to stoke the fires of faith and evangelization in our Diocese.  It is about an encounter with the Eucharistic Lord in worship, prayer and formation, and then being sent forth to fulfill the mission He gave us to live and share our faith and to be of service to those in need.  It is my hope that, inspired by the Holy Spirit, Catholics who gather for our Eucharistic Congress, will experience a transformative encounter with our Eucharistic Lord.

Let us pray that through a deepened love, understanding and celebration of the Eucharist, God may revive our hearts, our families, our parishes and our Diocese, launching us into a new chapter of missionary faith in Southwest Indiana.  I look forward to seeing you on Jan. 13.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Joseph M. Siegel, DD, STL

Bishop of Evansville
