Association of U.S. Catholic Priests to hold annual assembly June 24-27

Special to The Message

The Association of U.S. Catholic Priests (AUSCP) will hold its 13th annual assembly June 24-27 at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington, Kentucky. The theme of the 2024 AUSCP Assembly, “Eucharist, Sacrament of Encounter,” complements the current focus of the U.S. bishops on the Eucharist.

The 13th annual assembly is hosted by the Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky, Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv., who will lead assembly participants in a one-day retreat June 24.

Registration is open to AUSCP members and the general public, and partial scholarships may be available.

The AUSCP will present its 2024 Pope St. John XXIII Awards to Santa Fe Archbishop John C. Wester and Franciscan Sister Marge Eilerman. It is a tradition for the AUSCP to honor several persons, lay or ordained, who have significantly promoted the spirit of Vatican II by the witness they have given in the way they live, through their ministry and how they share their spirituality.

The first of three keynote speakers, Father Michael Driscoll, will speak on “How the Eucharist Schools Us for Action.” The title of Jesuit Father Thomas Reese’s keynote is titled, “Eucharist for a Synodal Church: Communion, Mission, Participation.” Dr. Kim Harris will speak on “You can tell the world! Testimony as a gift we share from our Eucharistic encounter.”

The AUSCP is the largest organization of its kind in the United States. Membership is open to ordained and lay supporters.
