Bertha Melendres, standing near the flag, speaks to 70 Hispanic women from across the Diocese of Evansville who attended a March 18 half-day retreat hosted by Holy Rosary Parish in Evansville. Bertha is director of the Diocesan Office of Hispanic Ministry, and she tells The Message that this retreat is one of four half-day retreats that will culminate with an event called Beloved Women of God. The March 18 retreat focused on women’s roles as daughters of God. The other three half-day retreats will focus on serving as the sister of God, the bride and wife of God, and the mother of God. They will be held at St. Joseph Parish in Jasper, Our Lady of Hope Parish in Washington and St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Dale, respectively.
