The Diocese of Evansville’s permanent deacon class of 2022 made its ordination retreat with Bishop Joseph M. Siegel June 24-26 at the Sarto Retreat House in Evansville. During the retreat, candidates made their formal Profession of Faith and took their Oath of Fidelty, and their wives gave their public consent for their husbands’ ordinations. The 12 candidates will be ordained Aug. 13 at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville. Bishop Siegel has made their initial assignments, which appear on page 5 of this issue. On Aug. 13, Bishop Joseph M. Siegel will ordain 12 men as permanent deacons. Following their ordination, they will be assigned to the following parishes (all appointments are effective Aug. 13): 

  • Ronald Cardinal will be appointed to diaconal service at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Vincennes and St. Philip Neri Parish in Bicknell.
  • Lonny Davis will be appointed to diaconal service at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Daylight and St. Bernard Parish in Snake Run.
  • Patrick Herman will be appointed to diaconal service at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Vincennes and St. Philip Neri Parish in Bicknell.
  • Gary Keepes will be appointed to diaconal service at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Petersburg and Blessed Sacrament Parish in Oakland City.
  • Kevin Kilmer will be appointed to diaconal service at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Vincennes and St. Philip Neri Parish in Bicknell.
  • Robert Martin will be appointed to diaconal service at St. Philip Parish in Posey County and St. Matthew Parish in Mt. Vernon.
  • Brian McCammon will be appointed to diaconal service at St. Mary Parish in Sullivan and St. Joan of Arc Parish in Jasonville.
  • Jorge Melendres will be appointed to diaconal service at Holy Rosary Parish in Evansville.
  • Daniel Niemeier will be appointed to diaconal service at Resurrection Parish in Evansville.
  • Mark Theiman will be appointed to diaconal service at St. John the Baptist Parish in Newburgh.
  • Edward Walker will be appointed to diaconal service at Resurrection Parish in Evansville.
  • Danny Wheeler will be appointed to diaconal service at Corpus Christi Parish in Evansville.
