The East Side Optimist Club recently hosted a dinner to honor Vanderburgh County school nurses and staff who help care for students. Representatives from Diocese of Evansville Catholic Schools who attended and were recognized include Good Shepherd, Holy Redeemer and Resurrection schools. The East Side Optimist Club semi-annually donates a box of supplies to school nurses in Vanderburgh County elementary schools. The club has organized the semi-annual donations for about 14 years, which are given to 38 Vanderburgh County elementary schools, including 13 Catholic elementary schools.
