Catholic schools accredited through Cognia

By Dr. Daryl Hagan

Superintendent of Catholic Schools

The 26 Catholic schools within the Diocese of Evansville recently participated in the Cognia Accreditation Review and earned the distinction of accreditation for five more years. With the successful review, schools continue to be in good standing with Cognia (formerly AdvancED) through June 2027.

Cognia is a global nonprofit that has the knowledge to help schools improve outcomes for all learners. Its international protocols and its commitment to systematic and sustainable improvement align with the expectations we seek in an accrediting organization.

The protocols include building capacity within our schools to improve and sustain student learning. Additionally, we strive to stimulate and improve effectiveness and efficiency throughout all aspects of the school environment.  Cognia embraces and embeds the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools within all protocols.

In addition to being accredited by Cognia, schools are also accredited by the Indiana State Board of Education and are in good standing with the National Catholic Education Association and the Indiana Non-Public Education Association.

For more information about the accreditation and/or applying to one of our schools, please contact the nearest Catholic school.
